Two people were bitten by a shark off the coast of a Texas island while beachgoers were celebrating July 4th.

 Four individuals encountered a shark while swimming off South Padre Island on the Independence Day holiday, Texas officials reported. Two of them sustained bites, while another was injured while trying to help, according to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
